From the reviews
I’ve tried classes from 2 different instructors and have been going for a few months. I’ve tried one other studio and this is by far my favorite. I believe because the instructor is on charge and rents the room they care and are more in control leading to a better experience.
Did a drop-in class while I was visiting from out of state for a conference. It's close to downtown - 6-7 minute Uber ride, but probably scooterable in warmer weather. I like that there are many class options on a weekday, which worked with my long work schedule.
This place is great for training pole/aerial as well as a small selection of classes here and there. They have all the equipment and grip aid you could need and even have some pretty cool lighting setups! Also a great place to do photoshoots! The owners are some of the coolest and nicest people ever.
I have been taking classes with Joy and this is honestly one of the best decision I've made in a while! I feel better about myself then I have in years! Everything is positive and it's physically and emotionally building. Joy also encourages self explanation, and is always willing to help with any move.
Your first pole class at The Salt Mine SLC
Nervous about your first pole class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects total beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. You don't need to be strong, flexible, or thin to start — pole builds all of that, and your first class is about learning to spin, walk the pole, and hold on, not inverting on day one. What to expect: a warm-up, some conditioning, and a few basic spins or a short combo — it's a real full-body workout, so expect to sweat and to feel it in your arms and core the next day. Rest whenever you need to; no one is watching or judging. What to wear: shorts and a tank or sports bra — bare skin on your arms, legs, and stomach is what grips the pole, so save the leggings for aerial or floorwork. Skip the lotion the day of class; it makes the pole slippery. Grip aids: provided here — a little Dry Hands or iTac helps you stick, and knee pads make floorwork comfy. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people leave their first class already planning the next one.
