The classes they teach
“I credit all my core strength to her!”
“I frequently take Melodies L2 and heels choreo, and she has really helped me connect to my body and develop my own movement style.”
“Completing the pole foundations teaching course was an enriching experience that expanded my knowledge and skills in pole dancing instruction.”
“I am also not a fan of the fact that if you buy a starter pack of three lessons, you must use it all within a month, because I have seen other places with more flexibility.”
What's on offer
“I don’t go to this studio regularly, but I’ve taken Melody’s heels class a handful of times, and a kip workshop once with Amy.”
“I booked my fist private group lesson for a Bachelorette party for the 4 of us.”

“Their expertise and encouragement have not only helped me master new tricks and improve my flow, but they've also boosted my self-confidence significantly.”
“And while the space is inclusive and feels safe for people of all backgrounds and identities, there is little to no true BIPOC presence.”
“Truly more fun than going to any gym while getting a great workout.”
From the reviews
I love Portland Pole and Dance. It’s a great place to get into pole dancing and learn skills, artistry, and flexibility—you progress pretty quickly. The instructors and staff are great, and I highly recommend classes with ExoticKat, Slinky, Tyler, Rachel, Stevie, and Shay.
I am grateful to this studio for providing me with my first taste of pole. Though to be honest, I didn't have the best experience at my first foundations class. While the instructor was nice and the overall vibe of the students was welcoming, I felt that the class was overcrowded and a bit chaotic, which made it hard…
Pole and Dance has changed my life!! I first went to this studio almost two years ago and didn’t expect to fall in love with pole dancing, but it’s become such an incredible experience. Every instructor here is amazing.
Anytime I go the staff are so kind, I've been to a few "inclusive" pole studios but this one actually lives up to it. Instructors work with you and what your body can do to help you improve and are so kind in that process. Also the studio is so well kept & maintained with lovely natural & colorful lighting.
Bachelorette & private parties at Portland Pole + Dance
Portland Pole + Dance comes up for private parties, going by their listing and students’ reviews. A pole party is one of the most-booked ways to celebrate a bachelorette, birthday, or girls' night, and it's a blast even if nobody in the group has ever touched a pole. A few things worth asking when you reach out. First, group size and what's included — most studios run private parties for around 6–15 people with a dedicated instructor, a beginner-friendly routine, and time for photos. Second, the vibe you want — sassy heels-and-flow choreography, playful spins and tricks, or a mix; a good studio tailors it to the guest of honor. Third, booking and pricing — parties are usually a flat package booked in advance, and popular weekend slots fill up fast, so ask about deposits and what to wear (shorts for grip, no lotion). It's beginner-friendly by design, judgment-free, and genuinely fun — exactly the kind of thing everyone talks about afterward.
Your first pole class at Portland Pole + Dance
Nervous about your first pole class? Almost everyone is — and a good studio expects total beginners to walk in the door. Here's what to know. You don't need to be strong, flexible, or thin to start — pole builds all of that, and your first class is about learning to spin, walk the pole, and hold on, not inverting on day one. What to expect: a warm-up, some conditioning, and a few basic spins or a short combo — it's a real full-body workout, so expect to sweat and to feel it in your arms and core the next day. Rest whenever you need to; no one is watching or judging. What to wear: shorts and a tank or sports bra — bare skin on your arms, legs, and stomach is what grips the pole, so save the leggings for aerial or floorwork. Skip the lotion the day of class; it makes the pole slippery. Grip aids: most studios keep grip liquid (Dry Hands / iTac) on hand, and knee pads make floorwork comfy — ask at the front desk. What to bring: water and a small towel. Arrive 10–15 minutes early to sign in and meet your instructor. It clicks fast — most people leave their first class already planning the next one.
